Hilo Chen (b. 1942, Yee-Lum, Taiwan) introduced figurative painting to the Photorealism genre in the early 1970s. His post-modern approach to the nude earned him a unique reputation among the Photorealists. His figures are often highly sexualized and depicted in close-up views. Chen currently resides in New York and his paintings are held in several prestigious collections including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan, and the San Jose Museum of Art in California.
