Tjalf Sparnaay (b. 1954, Haarlem, Netherlands) is a Dutch painter who works in a Photorealist style that he has dubbed “Megarealism”. Painting mostly food, at extremely large proportions, Sparnaay has earned acclaim, particularly amongst Europeans. The subjects of his still lifes vary from cheeseburgers to eggs to bouquets, all in homage to the Dutch still life tradition of the 17th century. Sparnaay is a self-taught painter, who has exhibited widely throughout Europe and the United States.
